Invariant multidimensional matrices

In [AO] the authors study Steiner bundles via their unstable hyperplanes and proved that (see [AO], Tmm 5.9) : A rank n Steiner bundle on Pn which is SL(2,C) invariant is a Schwarzenberger bundle. In this note we give a very short proof of this result based on Clebsch-Gordon problem for SL(2,C)modules.

Families of Complex Hadamard Matrices

What is the dimension of a smooth family of complex Hadamard matrices including the Fourier matrix? We address this problem with a power series expansion. Studying all dimensions up to 100 we find that the first order result is misleading unless the dimension is 6, or a power of a prime. In general the answer depends critically on the prime number decomposition of the dimension. Our results sug...

Invariant and Type Inference for Matrices

We present a loop property generation method for loops iterating over multi-dimensional arrays. When used on matrices, our method is able to infer their shapes (also called types), such as upper-triangular, diagonal, etc. To generate loop properties, we first transform a nested loop iterating over a multidimensional array into an equivalent collection of unnested loops. Then, we infer quantifie...

Ela Invariant Neutral Subspaces for Hamiltonian Matrices

Hamiltonian matrices with respect to a nondegenerate skewsymmetric or skewhermitian indefinite inner product in finite dimensional real, complex, or quaternion vector spaces are studied. Subspaces that are simultaneously invariant for the matrices and neutral in the indefinite inner product are of special interest. The dimension of maximal (by inclusion) such subspaces is identified in terms of...

Invariant conjugate analysis for exponential families

There are several ways to parameterize a distribution belonging to an exponential family, each one leading to a different Bayesian analysis of the data under standard conjugate priors. To overcome this problem, we propose a new class of conjugate priors which is invariant with respect to smooth reparameterization. This class of priors contains the Jeffreys prior as a special case, according to ...
